‘Falcao not going to Real Madrid’

Atletico Madrid owner Miguel Angel Gil Marin has categorically denied that Radamel Falcao will join Real Madrid.

Rumours have circulated that the Colombian striker is a top target for the Santiago Bernabeu side, but the Rojiblancos chief has revealed that there will be no deal between the city rivals.

“Falcao is not going to go to Real Madrid,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “I will repeat everything I said last year with Sergio Aguero.”

The Barcelona-based newspaper however, believe that a deal could be struck between the capital clubs, but for far beyond the goalscorer's €60m buyout clause.

Mundo Deportivo report that if a transfer were to be agreed, Jose Mourinho's team would have to pay in the region of €100m for his services.

They also claim however, that Atleti are desperately keen to keep hold of their start asset, and would offer the 26-year-old a vastly improved contract – providing they qualify for the Champions League.
