Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has admitted that talks to sign Athletic Bilbao’s Fernando Llorente this summer are ‘very advanced’.
The Spanish international was confirmed by Athletic earlier this month as having entered into negotiations to join the Bianconeri in the summer, upon the expiry of his current contract.
Reports last week indicated that those negotiations were close to being finalised and, speaking on the subject now, Marotta has reaffirmed the same.
“We are waiting for news. We have looked at players who are out of contract on June 30 and I will not hide that the talks with Llorente, or at least his agents, are very advanced,” commented the director general to Sky Italia this week.
“From that point of view I am very optimistic that it can be finished quickly, although a contract which begins on July 1 is expected.”
