Sergi Roberto suffers thigh injury

Barcelona B team midfielder Sergi Roberto is facing a period of four weeks on the sidelines after injury sustained for the senior side.

The promising central player started for Barca in their eventual 5-0 win over Cordoba on Thursday evening, in the second leg of their Last 16 clash in the Copa del Rey.

However, he retired hurt just eight minutes into the second half after pulling up, with medical tests carried out soon after confirming that he has torn the muscle in his left thigh.

This injury will require at least four weeks of recovery for the 20-year-old.

However, it is better news for David Villa. The striker caused concern when he was forced from play in the 76th minute, leaving his team to play out the remaining minutes with 10 men.

Tests have confirmed, though, that Villa has not suffered an injury, with the issue explained away as cramp.
