Rafa Berges has admitted that his Cordoba team faced an impossible task in trying to match Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.
The Segunda Division side fell to a 5-0 defeat in the second leg of their Last 16 clash and, following on from the first leg 2-0 defeat, it left their Coach with only praise for the competition’s defending champions.
“They are at an unusual technical level both individually and collectively. In these games you can resist if you do not need a goal, but if you do then you go out of sync,” the Coach told reporters afterwards.
“They have a level of speed and movement with the ball that makes it very difficult to play against them.
“If it is already difficult to compete against a Primera Division team then against an opponent like this it is impossible.
“In the first half we were at their mercy, but the second half we did improve in some ways.”
