Garcia: Worst Getafe under me

Luis Garcia has heavily criticised his Getafe players for lacking everything necessary to compete with Rayo Vallecano on Monday.

Los Azulones fell to a 3-1 defeat at Vallecas in Week 18’s closing fixture, thanks to a performance that was much to their Coach’s ire.

“The result is misleading, because we finished at 3-1, but we could have had many more goals scored against us,” declared Garcia afterwards.

“This is the worst game in the year-and-a-half that I have been here. We lacked everything.

“Rayo have been very good and that counts too. With the ball, without the ball, we were dominated in all aspects. Rayo have been much superior and we have been at a very low level.

“We had nothing in attack or defence. There is nothing to argue with, Rayo can be congratulated, there is nothing that we can do.

“We have to improve, forget this game and look up. Right now our image is bad and we cannot say anything but.

“The red card for Michel was one we could not afford and more so for the absence of Mehdi Lacen [Africa Cup of Nations]. We will have to see how many games we are without him because he is strong.”

Despite the reverse making it four games without a win in the Division, the Madrid side remain in 10th after the weekend’s round of matches.

“Although we were 2-0 down at half-time and we were not playing well, I did not want to change things because I wanted to give those playing a chance to improve.

“We lacked personality with the ball and without it. With the changes that we made we could not have done more. The team has been bad, very poor and must be improved.

“I hope it does not affect the morale of the players. We have a Cup match on Thursday against Atletico, which will be difficult to turn around [with a 3-0 first leg reverse], but I hope the team comes out angry and with intensity.”
