Ramos surprised by Casillas omission

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos believes captain Iker Casillas was missed on Saturday evening as Los Blancos lost 3-2 at Malaga.

The Spain international goalkeeper was left on the bench for the match at La Rosaleda and the former Sevilla full-back has conceded that he was surprised to see the 31-year-old not playing.

“We were surprised by the omission of Casillas,” he told Canal Plus. “But the captain will always be there with us.

“Clearly [we missed him]. Iker is the captain if this team and a great goalkeeper.

“When you do not win people are always quick to draw conclusions. But we have to think about what has gone wrong.

“We should be having more luck in front of goal. We had chances in the first half and we did not take them.”
