Patrice Evra has claimed that his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world.
The French international played with the Real Madrid man for six years at Old Trafford, and believes that the record-breaking forward is better than Lionel Messi, but should return to the Premier League club if he wants to win the Ballon d'Or.
“Someday Cristiano will return home,” he told MUTV. “If he wants to win the Ballon d'Or he should come back to Manchester United.
“He is an amazing player – the best in the world.
“Better than Messi in my opinion. And I do not say that because he is my friend or because I have played with him, but because he has everything.
“Messi is incredible, but Cristiano does everything by himself. Messi has Xavi and Iniesta to supply him with goals.”
The 31-year-old defender also hit out at Los Blancos, hinting that the fans do not appreciate Ronaldo's talents.
“I keep in touch with him and we talk all the time. Manchester United misses him.
“He has done amazing things at Madrid and has broken all the records, but they have not given him the respect he deserves.
“Here, Cristiano enjoyed the affection of his teammates, the Coach and the fans.”
