Atletico Madrid assistant Coach German Burgos has praised the players after their 1-0 win over Celta Vigo.
Diego Simeone was unable to speak to the media as he was catching a plane back to Argentina, but his right-hand man commended Los Colchoneros for their win, but admitted that it was a hard-fought three points at Vicente Calderon.
“We've won every home game we've played this season,” he told a Press conference. “But Celta's approach certainly made it difficult for us.
“We struggled to find a path to their goal, but luckily we got the goal we needed in the second half.”
The assistant then reflected on what has been a good year for the capital club.
“We believe that the players have given their all over the past 12 months,” he said. “In every competition – the Europa League, Copa del Rey and La Liga – they have left it all on the field.
“But above that, the team are coming together as more than 11 individuals.”
