Pina admits to Mallorca nerves

Midfielder Tomas Pina acknowledges that Real Mallorca must break their winless streak soon for the sake of morale.

The 25-year-old, who was said to be on the verge of a new deal earlier this week, spoke to the media ahead of the visit to Real Betis tomorrow.

“When you’re playing to avoid relegation it makes you a little nervous,” Pina confessed. “For the good of all, the fewer days we are in decline, the better.”

Joaquin Caparros’ men have failed to win any of their last 14 in all competitions and slipped to 19th in the standings.

“Until we were in the relegation zone we, the club and the fans, did not give it the necessary importance,” Pina continued. “We are involved now and must add points otherwise things will get complicated and it will cost us.”

The Mallorca youth product ended by discussing his new deal.

“We are talking, I’m fine here and have the willingness to renew. I’m proud that the club is interested in my situation and want to extend my contract.”
