Falcao: 9.5/10 for me

Radamel Falcao has acknowledged that the calendar year of 2012 has been particularly fruitful for him, as he awards himself a mark of 9.5 out of 10.

The Colombian scored in both the Europa League Final and UEFA Super Cup Final to help Atletico Madrid win both, whilst he has started the 2012-13 season in similar goalscoring form to how he ended the 2011-12 campaign.

“It’s been a great 2012, amazing. So many great moments that it's difficult to choose between them,” reflected the forward, who has 17 League goals this season, to Cuatro.“I’d give myself a nine. Maybe even 9.5.”

Even so, the player admits that he has some formidable competition in front of him currently preventing that mark to be translated into a Ballon d’Or.

“Xavi, Iniesta, Casillas are all amazing, they haven't won the Ballon d'Or because there are two beasts in front of them.”

Falcao is in action tonight with Atleti in their closing fixture of the calendar year, before breaking for the holidays.

“I’m going to use these days to rest and enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Next year? I ask for health and that in football next year will be even better.”

Regardless of Week 17’s results, the capital side will finish the year in second place, ahead of their city rivals Real Madrid, something that Falcao was keen to get across.

“With the type of money Real Madrid and Barcelona have they can afford the best players in the world, but Barca are first, Atletico second and Madrid third, so at the moment you have to speak about Barca and Atletico.”
