Fergie: Pep has no plans

Sir Alex Ferguson has reflected on his meeting with Pep Guardiola recently and revealed that the former Barcelona boss currently ‘has no plans’.

Guardiola is on a self-imposed 12-month sabbatical from the game after four years at the Camp Nou, but has been continually linked with the hotseat at a host of clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Ferguson’s Manchester United.

In an interview released this week, Ferguson confirmed reports that he recently met with Pep for a meal in New York, but did not give any clues as to future intentions.

“Is he the most in-demand Coach I have known? That is difficult to say,” he told Yahoo Sport.

“I spoke to Pep a while ago and he said he has no interest in getting back into management at the moment.

“His record is fantastic. The trophies he won at Barcelona were quite exceptional and that is his CV – he wins trophies.

“Barcelona have always had that style and played attractive football. He increased that by putting a new work ethic into the players.

“They work extremely hard to get the ball back and if you combine that with their possession it makes a fantastic team.”
