Gerard Pique will celebrate reaching 200 appearances in official competition for Barcelona this weekend against Atletico Madrid.

In his fifth season at the club since being bought back from Manchester United, the centre-back will enter into his third century of games for the team after Week 16’s home clash with Atleti.

Pique, who has struggled with a foot injury in the opening stages of the season, had left the Camp Nou as a youth to join English side United.

After his first professional contract and senior appearances came with the Red Devils, though, the centre-back was bought back by Barca for a fee of €5m, before making his Blaugrana debut under Pep Guardiola at the start of the 2008-09 season.

Pique had developed as a youth at La Masia as a central defensive midfielder.
