Michel Gonzalez has praised Sevilla for fully capitalising on Mallorca’s mistakes, unleashing their ‘hidden side’.
The Andalucians are all but through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey after a comprehensive 5-0 win at the Iberostar Stadium in the first leg of their Last 16 clash.
“This is a hidden side to Sevilla that sometimes appears. And if it appears it is because we have it and because we are working for it,” enthused Michel in assessing the match.
“We have been at a very good level. Sometimes opponents will make things easier, but if you are not at an optimal level then you cannot take advantage of that, as has happened to us in other games.”
The Coach ran through almost every player when asked for standout performances.
“We have been very efficient, with goals from set pieces again and dominating every aspect of the game.
“Manu has played at a very good level, Navas has provided two assists, the two centre-backs have been very strong, the combination of Medel and Kondogbia worked well, and Luna has scored.
“We have the football in place to do better, and I think that even by now we have done things enough to be higher than we are in the League table.”
Michel was asked for comment on possible activity in the transfer window.
“I hope that no man leaves us. I still believe in the Copa del Rey and I hope that it continues to bring us good results.
“We have quality and without quality a team does not play as we have in this game.”
