Falcao: Scoring five overwhelming

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao says scoring five goals against Deportivo La Coruna was so intense he can’t describe it.

The Colombian managed the feat in Atleti’s 6-0 thrashing of Depor at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.

“The emotion I felt was so intense I can’t describe it,” stated ‘El Tigre’. “I saw what the people felt and at times, I felt overwhelmed. I am always ready to score, but the team was also worthwhile, and I want to thank them.

“I’ve been asked several times whether it was the best game of my career. I’ve had some very good games in Bucharest [UEFA Cup Final] and Monaco [European Super Cup], and now with these five goals this is another. Hopefully there will be another game which is even better.”

Falcao was speaking after being given an award by AS.

“I am proud to receive this award because it means a lot. It is an exceptional distinction.”

The former Porto frontman also fielded questions on Atleti’s prospects, his future, and living in Spain.

“This club is great and very important, one with a lot of meaning which is not easy to make a mark on. The challenge is to demonstrate my qualities and lead the team as high as possible.

“I’m enjoying myself, and I have a three year contract with Atletico.

“I’m very comfortable in Spain. It helps greatly that we speak the same language. The Spanish, as Latinos, are very happy and I feel very grateful to live here.”
