Bonucci eyes Bernabeu trip

Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci has picked out Real Madrid as desired opponents in the Last 16 of the Champions League.

Bonucci’s Bianconeri booked their place in the knockout stages of the competition with a 1-0 win away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Topping their group, they could be drawn against Madrid, who only finished second in their group and can anticipate one of Juve, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester Untied, Schalke and Bayern Munich in the Last 16.

“Looking at the seeds, they are the most prestigious teams. Only Real Madrid stand out in the second pot, but when you reach this level they are all difficult,” Bonucci reflected to Sky Sport Italia about Juve’s potential opponents, which also include Porto, Arsenal, Valencia, Celtic and Galatasaray.

“I want Real Madrid in the next round, as I have never played at the Bernabeu. We have grown over the course of the competition, proving we gained in confidence, belief and that we study our opponents carefully.

“We came to Donetsk to play our game and we had said there would be no calculations or playing for a draw.”
