Atletico Madrid left back Filipe Luis claims the current Rojiblancos side is the best team he has ever played with.
The former Deportivo La Coruna defender was speaking at a Volkswagen promotional event.
“The best team I’ve played with? Since my I started my career, yes. Individually teams can have good players but good teams are the ones with commitment and this is a real team.”
Diego Simeone’s side have defied all expectations to keep pace with Barcelona at the top of La Liga and go into this Saturday’s derby against Real Madrid with great confidence but Filipe insists they are focused not on the derby or the praise – but Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match against Real Jaen.
“We are happy that people speak well of us, but we are realistic. We must continue working and fighting. We are not thinking of Madrid, we must play against Jaen and when that’s finished we will see.
“The team has 11 wins, but this is the beginning of the season and it’s very long. There are still two thirds to go and that gives you a margin to work inside. I understand people are excited and it might sound boring, but it wouldn’t be prudent for me to go against my colleagues and my trainer. We begin on Tuesday to watch videos of Jaen.”
