Berlusconi confirms Pep interest

Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has made clear his belief that the race to sign Pep Guardiola is between Milan and Manchester City.

In sacking Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea were linked with the former Barcelona boss this week and again with a move in the summer with Rafa Benitez only appointed on an interim basis.

Guardiola is also linked today with the Brazilian national team job, even as his agent has spoken of the 41-year-old’s intention to only consider his future from the new year.

According to Berlusconi, that decision will be between only two destinations.

“There are several English clubs who want Guardiola, in particular Manchester City, as they are in pole position because some of their directors know him well,” he told reporters in Italy on Friday.

“We will try to sign him, but it’s going to be tough.”
