Lionel Messi has admitted that he is not thinking about Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals in a calendar year.
The Barcelona forward bagged two as the Blaugrana defeated Spartak Moscow in the Russian capital to take his tally to 80 in 2012.
But the Argentine sensation has conceded that his overall play is more important, as well as commenting on the commanding display at the Luzhniki Stadium.
“Muller's record? I'm not thinking about that,” he told reporters after the game. “For me, the team is more important.
“We knew we had to start strongly today and try to avoid what happened at Celtic.
“It wasn't easy to play on this [synthetic] pitch, but we did well. We controlled the second half really well.”
