Falcao: I am one with Atleti

Radamel Falcao has reiterated his commitment to Atletico Madrid following another week of transfer rumours.

Linked once more with Real Madrid and Chelsea this week, the Colombian somewhat fuelled speculation with the admittance that he would ‘one day’ likely move.

However, speaking today, the striker has looked to reiterate where his mind currently is focused.

“I am very happy at Atletico at this time. I am proud to be here and I still have three years to go on my contract,” L’Equipe quote the star as saying today.

“There is some talk about my departure at the end of the season, but right now I am perfectly fine in Madrid. I am one with this club and my only concern is to help get it to the top.”

Falcao took time to also talk of Atleti’s strong start to the season that sees them currently sitting second in the League.

“Our journey so far has been formidable, we have played some very attractive football and the team wants to have a good season.

“We are at a good moment, but we must not get carried away. It is still too early to talk of the title, but I am convinced that we will be up there. The priority remains to ‘catch’ a place in the Champions League, we’ll see about the rest.”

The forward has so far contributed 13 goals in all competitions towards the Rojiblancos this term.

“I’m happy with my own start to the season, but mostly because my goals have helped my team to win.

“I am in very good shape and have been since the start of the season, I hope it can last as long as possible.

“I’m not obsessed with the number of goals I score, I only want my team to win the most games they can, the rest is secondary.

“I am glad I am among the top scorers in La Liga, but I am honestly not thinking towards the Pichichi. But, I do want to score at least as many as last season [24].”
