Navarro: No intent to hurt Ronaldo

Levante defender David Navarro has denied that it was his intention to injure Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo last night.

Navarro's elbow collided with Ronaldo's eye in the early stages of Real's 2-1 victory at the Ciutat de Valencia. The Portuguese went on to score the game's opening goal but was substituted at half time as he had problems with his vision and was dizzy.

“It was an unfortunate move, as at no time was it my intention to hurt Ronaldo,” the 32-year-old told Levante's official website. “I regret having done him an injury, but again, it was totally unintentional.”

Navarro, who also revealed that he had phoned Ronaldo this morning to wish him a speedy recovery, has previous with regard to controversial incidents.

He was subject to a six month ban after breaking Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso's nose in 2007, during his time as a Valencia player.
