Pellegrino: Bayern match a final

Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino paid tribute to the fans after his side's 4-2 Champions League victory over BATE Borisov.

Los Che defeated their Belarussian opponents at Mestalla thanks to a Sofiane Feghouli brace and goals from Jonas and Roberto Soldado. They are now three points clear of BATE and well on course to qualify from Group F after their sixth win in seven home games this season.

“The fans pushed us on a lot, giving us heat and propping us up in the difficult moments,” Pellegrino stated to reporters post-match.

“We were a serious team – in a game that was more difficult than people expected it to be. Hopefully we will continue in this direction.”

Valencia's next outing in the tournament is a crunch game against Bayern Munich at Mestalla in two weeks time.

“The match here against Bayern will be a final. But against BATE we have taken a very good step.”
