Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has expressed his elation following the birth of his son earlier today.
Rumours began to circulate earlier this afternoon that the first child of the man many consider the greatest player of all time had been born. The news has now been confirmed by his club and by Messi himself on his Facebook page.
“Today I am the happiest man in the world,” said the 25-year-old. “My son was born, and I thank God for this gift! Thanks to my family for the support. A hug for everyone!”
The child is named Thiago, a decision Messi and his partner Antonella Roccuzzo revealed some weeks ago.
