Emanuelson holds Malaga hope

Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson believes that his team have what it takes to defeat Malaga in a fortnight’s time in the Champions League.

The two sides met for the first time in the competition last night, with the Costa del Sol side picking up the three points thanks to a 1-0 result.

However, for Emanuelson, the return match in early November at San Siro will fall in the Rossoneri’s favour.

“The next match will be important and I think we will be able to beat the Spanish,” the Dutchman told reporters today, before insisting that luck has played its part in his team’s defeat on Wednesday.

“We had some opportunities to score, but we are going through a difficult time right now and we are lacking a little bit of luck.

“We know that in difficult times you have to fight for everything. That's what we did – we played as a team, fought for every ball.

“There is some satisfaction, though, in having caused Malaga some problems. Also, if you look at the game, I don't think we deserved to lose…”
