The President of Alcoyano has said Jose Mourinho will bring Real Madrid's best players for the Copa del Rey game – 'if he's smart.'
A Segunda Division B side from the Valencia region, Alcoyano have been drawn against Los Blancos in the last 32 of Spain's foremost cup competition. The first leg will take place at their home ground, El Callao, next Tuesday.
“I have good feelings, our team has won five straight games,” Juan Serrano told AS. “If we can survive the game at El Callao, we will prepare for Madrid.
“I believe that 80 per cent of the tie will be decided at El Callao. If Jose Mourinho is smart, which I do not doubt, they will come here with all their artillery and not reserve anything for the return at the Bernabeu.”
The minnows have installed extra seating at the stadium for the occasion.
“I did not experience our tie against Barcelona five years ago as I wasn't President at the time,” Serrano concluded. “But I think there is no comparison with Madrid, who on a media level are the most important in the world.”
With their similar stature and name, Alcoyano bring to mind Alcorcon, the Juan Antonio Anquela-coached outfit that stunned Real at the same stage of the same competition in 2009, winning 4-1 on aggregate.
