‘Guardiola asked me about Bayern’

Luca Toni has claimed today that former Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola has spoken to him of an interest in taking over at Bayern Munich.

Toni and Guardiola are friends from their time playing together in Serie A at Brescia and talking to Bild today, the current Fiorentina striker revealed that they have spoken about Toni’s former club Bayern.

Guardiola has been linked with a number of clubs to return to once he ends his sabbatical from the game, with Chelsea and Milan two notable competitors to the Germans.

“He asked me about Bayern. I think the philosophy of how that club is run pleases him,” Toni revealed today.

“He is a very good Coach who would perfectly fit that team. He would give the German mentality some flair.

“He should definitely coach Bayern! They are one of the best teams in the world. They have money, they have the perfect stadium and have merchandising.

“In Italy some of these provisions  are not as good, but they are catching up. They only club in Italy that is comparable to Bayern though is Juventus, who will be at their level in less than 10 years.”
