Argentina Coach Alejandro Sabella believes that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is developing into an all-round leader in the dressing room.
Messi is currently with Sabella’s Albiceleste as they prepare for a double-header of World Cup qualifying against Uruguay and Chile.
Going into these games, Sabella today took the opportunity to respond to lingering doubts in Argentina about Messi’s viability as the national team’s captain.
“There are different types of leadership, but he has it,” the Coach told gathered reporters today.
“Primarily it is for his capacity as a footballer, but secondly also because more and more we are hearing his voice as more participatory.
“Slowly he is growing into a leader for our team, a captain.”
