Urrutia: Bilbao must regain discretion

Athletic Bilbao President Josu Urrutia has spoken out on the dressing room leaks and other issues plaguing the club.

Two recordings of talks Coach Marcelo Bielsa has given to his players were released earlier this week.

“I think we should try and regain some discretion,” Urrutia said at a Press conference. “I have not heard Bielsa's talk, because what happens in the dressing room is private, and nothing to do with me.”

Urrutia was unhappy with the suggestion that anyone at San Mames stands to benefit from the leaks.

“The club certainly does not benefit from things like this. Everyone at Athletic must take responsibility for what they do. What has happened is difficult but cannot be attributed to the club, that is totally false.”

The official expressed regret about the argument surrounding Javi Martinez's return to the Lezama training ground, and striker Fernando Llorente's desire to leave.

“The issue of the fence and Javi Martinez is sad. I tried to deal with it internally.

“Llorente is a great player, if he reconsiders his position I wouldn't mind resuming [contract] talks. But of course, we have no evidence that he has reconsidered his position.”
