Milan offer Guardiola €24m

A report in La Repubblica claims Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has offered Pep Guardiola €24m to take over the Italian giants.

The former Barcelona boss is in New York where he is taking a self-imposed sabbatical from football, but it is understood preliminary contact between the pair has already been made with Pep being offered €6m-a-year on a four-year contract.

Milan are currently going through a mini-crisis, eleventh in Serie A with seven points from seven games, and Berlusconi sees Guardiola as the man to guide the club out of one the worst periods it has endured in recent decades.

Despite poor results this campaign, Vice-President Adriano Galliani has defended boss Massimiliano Allegri saying his position ‘is not an issue’, although the landscape could change considerably if Guardiola indicates he is open to Berlusconi’s offer.

A major stumbling block could be wages, with Pep thought to have commanded a salary of €10m-a-year at the Camp Nou before quitting the club at the end of last season.
