Sevilla have confirmed that midfielder Gary Medel will not be allowed to participate in tonight's match with Celta Vigo.
The Chilean was red carded for an alleged head butt on Barcelona’s Cesc Fabgregas last Saturday, then hit with a two game suspension on Wednesday.
President Jose Maria del Nido announced that the club would appeal, and was so confident of success that the player was included in Michel's squad for tonight's visit to Balaidos.
However the appeal was dismissed by the RFEF's appeals committee this morning. The club then approached the Spanish Sports Disciplinary Committee, seeking a temporary injunction which would allow the former Boca Juniors man to play tonight, but that also proved unsuccessful.
