Guaita wary of BATE threat

Vicente Guaita is delighted for Valencia’s win over Lille in midweek and highlights that the same attitude will be needed for surprise package BATE.

Los Che defeated the French side 2-0 thanks to a double from Jonas, which Guaita believes was a deserved victory.

“We have worked well, got the three points and the team has good feelings,” he told reporters today.

“Lille are one of the major clubs in France and whilst they were not at their best they were still dangerous and had their chances, but we were good to close out our goal.”

Mauricio Pellegrino’s side face BATE Borisov next. The Belarusian champions currently top the group after surprise wins over Lille and last year’s runners-up Bayern.

“We knew before that every team would be difficult and now we have three, alongside Bayern, whilst BATE have six. We will have to go there with the same mentality that we played against Lille with.”

The ‘keeper also looked ahead to the team’s next match, a derby with Levante.

“It might be the game that they most hope and anticipate for, playing against Valencia. They have much respect for us, we too for them, and we have to do things like we did this week, to get three points.”
