Chelsea monitor Ramos situation

Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on rising tensions between Sergio Ramos and Jose Mourinho, prepared to step in with €50m for the defender.

After defeat to Sevilla, Ramos was dropped to the bench for Real Madrid’s next game against Manchester City and reported as training with the reserves, prompting initial rumours of a fall-out between player and Coach.

Ramos suggested after his comeback at Rayo Vallecano that he didn’t know if he had been punished or not and Mourinho then offered a back-handed compliment to the player in his pre-Deportivo Press conference.

This was then followed with Ramos’ interview published yesterday, in which he said he will not refrain from speaking his mind at the club.

It is a series of events that has AS today talking of the rising tension between Ramos and Mourinho and Mundo Deportivo suggesting that Chelsea are keen to take advantage, should the player be deemed surplus to requirements in January.

Apparently, the Londoners are prepared to finance a significant bid of €50m for the Spain international, if the situation is not resolved by the winter transfer market.

Meanwhile, Marca are running an image of Ramos [above] from the weekend’s game with Deportivo, highlighting that underneath his shirt he was wearing a Mesut Ozil jersey.

It is alleged by the publication that it was Ramos’ intention if he scored to reveal the shirt ‘as a mark of solidarity’ for the German, who was replaced at half-time in the game for Ricky Kaka and, like Ramos, has struggled for a permanence in the Real XI this term.
