Tono: Barca just keep going

Granada goalkeeper Tono has reflected on yesterday’s late defeat to Barcelona, claiming that the Catalans just erode opponents down.

The ‘keeper was less than five minutes away from a historic clean sheet for the Andalucians yesterday evening, before Xavi Hernandez and a Borja Gomez own goal settled the game in the home side’s favour.

“Barca are brilliant. Controlling a game as they control it for 90 minutes is very difficult. They make it look easy. It ends up being more of the same,” Tono reflected today, after his numerous saves at the Camp Nou proved in vain.

“In the Guardiola era it was like that, controlling the game, mastering it, and moving the ball in the last three quarters of the field to change the pace and break the defensive walls.

“Real Madrid hit you and those five to 10 minutes are fatal to the opposing team. Barca, instead, erode away at you and the proof is that, almost every team from the 15th to 20th minute of the second half cannot take any more.”

The ‘keeper was asked for his view of Lionel Messi and David Villa’s on-pitch argument that occurred during the first half.

“These things happen in games and in training, it is common. It does not mean they have a bad relationship. I’ve seen the images and there is no lack of respect between the two.

“I think you are giving too much attention to this. It is a circumstance of the game, and there are thousands of those. The thing is that at the Camp Nou there are 300 cameras.”
