Francisco rues Elche ‘timewasting’

Almeria Coach Francisco Rodriguez believes Elche’s timewasting was a major factor in his side’s 1-0 defeat on Sunday.

Christian Herrera scored the game’s only goal just before the hour mark and Francisco insisted at his post-match Press conference that a draw would have been a fairer result.

“The game was well-balanced,” Francisco said.

“The only difference was they scored from a clearance.

“We were only inferior in set-pieces.”

Francisco went on to point the finger at Elche goalkeeper Tono, who he accused of timewasting by exaggerating an injury late in the game.

“The final minutes weren’t played,” Francisco added.

“Elche were dedicating to wasting as much time as they could with the simulated injury of Tono.”

But Francisco was determined not to let the defeat, which sees Almeria drop to 17th, affect the team’s season too greatly.

“Both teams will continue to fight hard to stay in the top flight,” the Coach predicted.
