Diego Simeone has told Gazzetta dello Sport that Radamel Falcao is the best No 9 in world football.
The Atletico Madrid boss believes there is no other striker around like the Colombian international, whilst also admitting the idea of coaching in Serie A ‘seduces’ him.
“Falcao is the best No 9 in the world, an old-style centre-forward of which there are few around,” said the Argentine.
Simeone is in Israel where his team take on Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the Europa League on Thursday, and says his players need to keep their feet firmly on the ground.
“At Atletico we cannot set targets, that would be wrong. We work day-to-day but we always want to be competitive,” he explained.
A former Inter and Lazio player, Simeone admitted that the idea of going back to coach in Serie A appealed to him.
“I always think that it is more difficult for a Coach [to work in Italy] because the teams have different styles, but the idea seduces me.”
