Gago still ruled out for Valencia

Valencia midfielder Fernando Gago has not recovered from the head injury he picked up last week.

The former Real Madrid player, who was stretchered off in Argentina’s 1-1 draw with Peru, arrived in Valencia on Tuesday and was submitted to further tests on Wednesday morning.

However, an examination by the Valencia medical team has concluded the player has still not shown signs of improvement, according to an official club statement.

“The Argentine international has not shown improvement at this time and will be subjected to other kinds of physical tests to determine his levels of tolerance to them.

“In this way we can observe his progress and establish the time of his return to competition,” it read.

Thus, boss Mauricio Pellegrino is still unsure if he will be without Gago for Sunday’s game at high-flying Real Mallorca.
