According to AS, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.
The 23-year-old is currently sidelined with a groin problem that could keep him out for up to two months but that has not deterred the Premier League clubs, who are both expected to make a push for him in the January transfer window.
Herrera only joined hometown club Athletic before the start of last season for a reported fee of €7.5m, yet the Basques might have to fend off bids of between €15m and €20m despite having received €40m for the sale of Javi Martinez to Bayern Munich.
However, Herrera is in no rush to leave San Mames and Athletic boss Marcelo Bielsa considers the Spain Under-21 international a key component of his team, having played in no less than 54 games in all competitions last term.
There is also the problem of Herrera’s contract, which run until 2016 and contains a rescission clause of €36m.
