Michel: Stop doubting Sevilla

Michel Gonzalez has appealed to Sevilla’s fans to put aside any early season pessimism and get behind Sevilla when they host Real Madrid on Saturday.

The Rojiblancos sit in seventh place after three rounds of action, but draws with Granada and Rayo Vallecano have left fans underwhelmed.

However, Michel has followed the positive line of communication coming out of the club this week, declaring that the players are capable of upsetting Jose Mourinho’s men when they visit for Week 4.

“From the outside, I notice pessimism, that we are not altogether at one,” reflected the former Real player.

“I notice a lot of things around the club and they have only had one bad year. There have been many good years. Everything cannot collapse from just one bad year, nor is there far for this team to go.

“There is nothing more important than this Saturday at 10pm [local time]. The rest must be left before or after, because there is nothing more important than winning. On Saturday we will all be with Sevilla to win that game.

“I would give up my contract if necessary to achieve victory against Real Madrid and all that would follow in terms of the positive dynamic around the club.

“I know that this team has the resources to do what has been achieved in every recent year but one. Keep in mind that a bad year for this club sees them finish ninth, where in other cases clubs have been relegated.”

Michel is in no doubt that the fans’ belief in the team will be crucial this weekend.

“The fans have pulled this team many times, now the players and Coach are the ones who have to pull. But, if my players are true in their effort, as they have been since I’ve been Coach of this team, it is important that the fans also believe and support them, to create the right climate.

“When the Real Madrid players leave the tunnel, I want them to be aware of what they face. If we win, it will be fantastic for the rest of our season.”
