Atleti to convince UEFA by October

Atletico Madrid are reportedly convinced that they can assure UEFA of their financial viability by as soon as October.

The defending Europa League champions are currently listed by the governing body as one of 23 sides in European competition this year that won’t receive prize money until they can assure the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) that they are complying to Financial Fair Play.

Sources at the capital outfit have apparently spoken to AS in reaction to the news and indicated that they believe it is in relation to payments received for this summer’s outbound transfers of Alvaro Dominguez and Eduardo Salvio – believed to be put at €23m – and the payment of €16.5m due to the tax office – Hacienda – this October.

The club reportedly believe that the issue will be clarified by the first week of October, when the CFCB are due to meet with officials at the club to assess their accounts.
