Messi: ‘Cristiano nothing to do with me’

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has asserted that issues surrounding Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo ‘have nothing to do’ with him.

“When [Cristiano Ronaldo] speaks, do not come and ask me about it and vice versa,” began the Argentine international in a Press conference while on duty with the Albiceleste.

“It is something that he said, it has nothing to do with me.”

Argentina are preparing to face Paraguay and Peru in 2014 World Cup qualifying fixtures, which the Barcelona star then turned his attention to.

“The results to date have been in our favour so we can work in peace, hopefully we can continue well in our next two games.

“The ties will be difficult and we have to keep growing as a team. Against Paraguay we need to keep the ball and attack because they are very tough opponent. Both teams will be difficult rivals, like in all our qualifying matches.

“It is important to form a strong group to go out to play against every team. We have achieved good results against major teams and we have to continue that progress,” concluded the 25-year-old forward.
