‘Here at Barca, everyone is happy’

Barcelona board secretary Toni Freixa has declared ‘everyone at Barcelona is happy’, but refuses to confirm contract intentions with Lionel Messi.

“Here at Barcelona, we are all happy,” Freixa told reporters today, in avoiding direct comment on the affair at Real Madrid, before taking questions on a possible rumoured contract renewal for Messi.

“Messi deserves everything, but we have a responsibility, which is to lead the club in the right direction. Today there is nothing to add on this topic.

“If a player wanted to talk about his contract, we will sit down to talk, there won’t be any conflict.”

Freixa also responded to Johan Cruyff’s recent assertion that President Sandro Rosell is more concerned with money than the club.

“Any opinion of one of the best players and Coaches of our history is respectable. Just ask Cruyff to participate more in the day to day running of the club and he will feel happy with Barca.”

The spokesperson was also asked of the latest on the Spanish Football Federation’s reported proposal to play the next five years of the Spanish Super Cup in China.

“Formally we have not received any proposal from the Federation in this regard, all we have is the news being reported. But if we were asked, we’d always want to play it in Spain.”
