New Rayo Vallecano signing Sergio Rodriguez ‘Rodri’, insists he needed a ‘return to Spain’ after an uneventful spell in Russia with Spartak Moscow.
The 28-year-old defender was speaking at his official presentation in Madrid, after yesterday’s transfer and claimed La Liga remains the ‘best League’ in the world.
“Being in a country like Russia was tough, and I desperately wanted to return to Spain and the best League in the entire world. I am proud to have done that now by signing for Vallecano,” he told reporters.
Rodri also commented on his new Coach, teammates and the challenge ahead trying to survive relegation in la Liga.
“I have spoken very little with Paco Jemez, but I will adapt over time. I have been slightly surprised by how well Rayo have started, it means that there is hard work behind them and we will have to keep it that way.
The defender will miss out on his new side’s clash with Sevilla this weekend, but will be a keen observer.
“I have been on a long vacation, but I’ve been preparing in Barcelona despite missing a few sessions. After Sevilla I will be ready to play.”
