‘I thought Atleti would sell Falcao’

Radamel Falcao’s father has revealed that he did not attend the UEFA Super Cup because he believed that his son would have been sold by then.

Talking to Colombian newspaper MIO de Bogota, Radamel Garcia hinted that there was at least one offer on the table for the Atletico Madrid star.

It was enough to convince him that the striker would not be connected to Atleti come Friday’s game against Chelsea, in which he netted a hat-trick in.

“I decided to stay away because I didn’t know if they were going to sell him or not by then,” Falcao’s father told the paper.

“Why should I have come for nothing, [if he wasn’t at the club]? I knew that one Russian club were extremely interested in him and that one of the English greats were also interested.

“Now Falcao should cost about €100m, but that’s not up to me.”
