Zigic in Mallorca switch?

Real Mallorca President Jaume Cladera insists that Birmingham City striker Nikola Zigic is desperate to join the club.

According to AS, the player has called Mallorca director of football and majority shareholder Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, reiterating his desire to join Los Bermellones and to forgo any add-ons his representative had originally asked for.

“Zigic called the director of football and said he wants to come here,” said Cladera.

“The club has already done all it can to reach an agreement, although if the necessary documentation is not sent shortly then we will consider the matter closed.”

Serra Ferrer is understood to have implored the player to sort out the necessary documents for his release from the Championship club, with Mallorca believed to be willing to wait until the last minute on deadline day: if not, boss Joaquin Caparros will seek a late alternative.

“They told us they were going to send the documentation but we have been waiting 10 days, so we don’t know what the reality of the situation is.”

“We have a figure in mind for the player and we will not move on it,” Cladera claimed.
