Luka Modric has finally completed his transfer to Real Madrid and could make his first appearance for his new club on Wednesday against Barcelona.
The Croatian international was told earlier today that he had been registered by FIFA as a Madrid player, meaning he could be in Jose Mourinho’s line-up when Madrid host the Catalans at the Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
Madrid trail Barcelona 2-3 on aggregate and the appearance of Modric could be a great boost to them, after their disappointing start to the League season, which has seen them register just one point in two games.
Los Blancos drew 1-1 with Valencia on the opening day of the season and then lost 1-2 to Getafe on Sunday night.
Modric, who will wear the number 19 at his new club, said yesterday that he had been preparing to be fit in time for the game.
