Juve looking at David Villa

Juventus are reportedly interested in working out a deal to sign Spanish striker David Villa from Barcelona.

According to El Comercio, the Italians have already made initial contact with the player late last week and are set to meet with Blaugrana officials on Monday to discuss the merits of a transfer.

Barca are understood to be reluctant to part ways with the No 7, who has just returned from a long injury lay-off, due to Coach Tito Vilanova’s preference to keep him and the lack of time in the transfer window to find a replacement.

The Bianconeri have reportedly offered a €8m-a-season, four-year contract to the 30-year-old former Valencia player.

El Comercio also report that the situation will change next summer, when Barca intend to sell Villa to raise funds for a move for Brazilian youngster Neymar.

Juventus are in the market for a forward and have reportedly struggled in negotiations with Athletic Bilbao for Fernando Llorente.
