Villa facing €3000 fine

Barcelona striker David Villa will receive a hefty fine for taking off his jersey while celebrating his strike against Real Sociedad last Sunday.

Upon scoring Barca's fifth goal in the rout of at Camp Nou, Villa revealed a t-shirt bearing an image of his wife and daughters alongside the message ‘Impossible without you’.

According to Marca, the newly formed Spanish Competition Committee will punish him with a fine between €2000 and €3000.

Article 91 of the regulations governing celebrations dictates that: “Any player to reveal a unlicensed shirt and displaying any kind of advertising slogan, caption, acronyms, logos or pictures, whatever its contents or purpose, shall be punished with a minimum fine of €2000 to €3,000 and a warning.”

The Spanish international had been making a long-awaited La Liga return for the Catalan giants after fracturing his tibia – an injury that saw him miss the final six months of 2011-12 plus Euro 2012.
