Sheff Wednesday lure Barca striker

Sheffield Wednesday are on the verge of luring Barcelona B striker Rodri to Hillsborough on loan.

A report in El Desmarque claims that Rodri – real name Rodrigo Rios Lazano – has already travelled to England to undergo a medical at the newly-promoted Championship club and will put pen to paper over the weekend.

The 22-year-old was signed from Sevilla for €1.5m last summer and made 35 Segunda appearances with seven goals for La Blaugrana’s second string last term.

However, it is understood that B team boss Eusebio Sacristan has informed him he is not part of his future plans and that he will be allowed to leave the club.

The Spain Under-21 international is a product of Sevilla’s youth academy and went on to make seven first-team appearances with Los Nervionenses before being snapped up by Barcelona.

Rodri is best remembered at the Sanchez Pizjuan for his 93rd minute winner at Almeria on the final day of the 2010-11 season, his last gasp goal – a bicycle kick  – ensuring Sevilla fourth place and Champions League qualification.
