Mallorca defender joins Gent

Real Mallorca defender Pau Cendros has confirmed via a letter on the club’s official website that he has joined Belgian outfit Gent.

The 25-year-old right-back was one of the player’s jettisoned by boss Joaquin Caparros at the end of last season, alongside Marti Crespi and Pablo Caceres, and has signed for the Jupiter Pro League side on a free transfer.

Palma-born Cendros is a product of Los Bermellones’ youth system and began his career with the Islanders in 2004.

However, he had to wait until the first game of the 2010-11 season to make his full debut when he was chosen for season’s opener, a 0-0 draw with Real Madrid.

His time with Mallorca before that was spent on loan at Benidorm, Tenerife and Levante respectively.

“After a lifetime linked to Real Mallorca, full of unforgettable memories and great victories, I have now begun an exciting journey in Belgium, more specifically at Gent.

“I hope this exciting new era brings me great joy and allows me to develop as a player, as I have done thus far,” read Cendros’ letter.
