Hoffenheim secure €6m Madrid striker

Hoffenheim have completed the €6msigning of Real Madrid B striker Joselu, reports Marca.

The 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal at the Rhein-Neckar Arena with former side Celta Vigo receiving a €900,000 windfall as part of the deal.

The player is understood to have been keen to try his luck in Germany for some time despite reported interest from Chelsea and West Ham United, while Schalke and Borussia Dortmund had been monitoring his situation in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos have inserted a buy-back clause into the agreement which would see them having to pay €7.5m if they wanted him back in 12 months’ time, or €8m the following season.

Stuttgart-born Joselu, who returned to Spain with his family as youngster, was instrumental in Madrid’s reserve team achieving promotion to La Segunda last season, with 19 goals from 33 La Liga appearances.

He appeared just six times for the first team in his spell at the Bernabeu, making his debut in May 2011 when he came on as a late substitute for Karim Benzema and scored in an 8-1 home victory over Almeria.
