Ramos plays down Benitez row

Sergio Ramos played down his verbal spat with Rafa Benitez after meeting the Real Madrid Coach for the first time since making some barbed comments.

Ramos was at Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground on Wednesday after pulling out of the Spain squad with a shoulder injury.

It was as Ramos left national team duty that he responded to Benitez’s criticism of his mistake against Atletico Madrid, making a rash challenge that led to a penalty, by questioning the tactician’s decisions.

AS reports Ramos stopping briefly to sign an autograph and issuing curt replies to questions about the public row.

“I always talk to my Coaches,” Ramos replied when asked if he and Benitez had spoken.

“Don’t worry. It’s all very calm. Did I go too far? If you ask me I said very little.”
